Items left on board

Published 23/11/2011 10.52 AM   |    Updated 10/10/2012 03.52 PM

I left an item behind - how can I get this back?

It depends where you left the item.   All lost property found at Gatwick, Heathrow or Manchester is handed to the relevant airport lost property office.   Virgin Atlantic do not log or retain these items.

If you think you've left something behind on one of our planes or in our lounges, you can check if it has been found by e-mailing or calling the lost property department of the airport you arrived into using the addresses or numbers listed below.

Any lost property found on board our aircraft is taken off the plane by Security Staff and passed to our lost property handlers. The item is stored for one calendar month unless it is a perishable then it will be destroyed immediately.   When you contact lost property please give the following details (contact details at the bottom of the page): -

Full name
Postal Address
Contact Telephone Number
Flight Number and Flight Date
Seat Number (if applicable)
Full description of the item and the place where you think you left it.

The team will check if the item is logged.  If it has, they will discuss with you about how you want the item returned. There is a charge of between £5 and £20 or local equivalent depending on your arrival airport for this service plus the cost of postage/delivery.  This is collected by the lost property handler before the item is returned.

If the item has not been logged, the lost property team will e-mail you within 5 days; there is no cost for this service.

Lost property left behind in chauffeur driven cars - Upper Class Passengers

If you think you have left something behind in the complementary car taking you to or from the airport please contact our Upper Class Support team on 0844 412 4666. They will liaise directly with the car companies on your behalf.

Before requesting this from us you must check with your insurers first as this "confirmation of search", letter may not be sufficient proof of your loss.
